Welcome to the online home of St Jude’s, Brantford. We are a Christian community, part of the Anglican Church of Canada. At St Jude’s, none of us are perfect. We don’t have the perfect job, the perfect house or the perfect careers. What we do have is faith in a caring and loving God, and commitment to serving others.

Why do we have problems in life?

Problems

Have you ever met anyone who has never had any problems in life? I don’t think I have. Everyone we meet has their own burdens and pain. So where exactly do all these problems come from? Most often we think about how God is allowing problems in our life. But if you take a closer look, the earth is a sinful place.

Sinful world:

The moment Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin entered the world, and when there is sin in the world, there will be problems. Most of us are quite confused when things don’t go the right way, and we blame God for everything that happens in the world. When a disaster strikes, we blame God and wonder why God allows such things. But when you think about it, why would God send a disaster to kill thousands of people. Why would there be famine and riots? It is not God who does it; it is because we live in a sinful world, such things happen.

Problem Solvers:

God created humans in his likeness, and we are born to be problem solvers. Thus, whenever we have a problem in our lives, we try to solve it and always look out for new problems to solve. I do not deny the fact that some problems are more significant than others and that people often struggle to solve their problems. People struggle to solve their problems because they hesitate to address it. They keep ignoring their issues up to a point where it becomes a ticking time bomb.

We first need to seek God to help us solve the problems in life. Sometimes, God might be silent in answering your prayers, but that does not mean that you are doomed for life. Probably God wants you to figure it out, or he might be waiting for the right time. God knows the best for us; he understands and supplies all our needs. All he expects us to do is to have a little faith in him.seek god

Seek God:

So whenever you come across a problem in your life, take a moment and solve it with the help of God. When you solve problems, you will be happy and tend to solve more problems with confidence in life. There is no point in continually worrying about the problems in our lives as we will have problems no matter what our circumstances might be. So all you can do is face them and solve them. As you solve problems, you will understand how to handle various things and be a better person.

When you efficiently solve problems, you can help another person solve his/her problems and show then the God who helped you solve all your problems. Tell them about the love of God and how he is always there to helps us out no matter what our situation might be.

Solving Problems with God

Have you ever seen people continually complaining about their lives? They are never satisfied with what they do, and no matter what you give them they are always grumpy. Most of us are like that. Maybe not all the time, but we worry about things which we don’t have to and torment ourselves into thinking that we have the worst struggles in the whole world and unfortunately, many people even blame God for all their problems.

Creation of problems:

Problems are something which is constant in everyone’s lives and us humans are designed in such a way that when there are no problems in our lives, we tend to create one and try to solve them. Now the above statement might sound ridiculous because no one loves having problems. But God created humans to be problem solvers. That is the reason why we are never satisfied with anything. The moment we solve or discover something we always want for more. When man landed on the moon, it was one of the most significant achievements anyone could have ever done. But he did not stop there, from the moon he went on to discover other planets and other universes by sending satellites.

We, humans, are happy when we solve problems and thus the more problems we have, the more problems we will solve and the happier we will be. But many people have a terrible approach towards problems. Instead of solving them, they try to ignore them or avoid them, and this in-turn will turn happiness into pain.

The longer you ignore your problems, the tougher they are going to get to solve, and as space and time bind you, you will not be able to bear the pain you will have to face. So whatever is your problem, we as children of God need to have the ability to face it and solve the problems.

Considering things which don’t matter:

All problems are not the same, and each of us has a different way to approach and solve our problems. But before we start to solve our problems, we need to figure out what truly is our problem and if a situation is worth considering to be a problem.

In life, most of us take up all the unnecessary things and consider it as a problem. When you take up all the unnecessary things and load it in your head, you are going to be stressed. Thus it is essential to classify your problems and choose the once which are worthy of solving. For example, you might be driving to your work in the morning, and you come across this angry driver who screams at you for no reason. During situations like these, you can make two decisions. The first one is to consider it as your own problem and get angry and scold the other guy, or you can take the second option and ignore him completely or give him a simile. These may be the simplest problems all of us come across in our daily lives, and we can choose to ignore them.

How to lead a God

How to lead a God-centred life?

We all would have heard the phrase “God-centred” all our lives and we hear many people talking about it in the churches, communities and other gatherings. It is a lot easy to talk about leading a God-centred life but to live a “Christ-centred” life one has to be committed to Christ.

The following are some of the things which will help you to be a God-centred person.

Worship God:

David in the book of Psalms talks about worshipping God with songs and music. When you start to worship God, you become close to him, and all your burdens fade away. When we worship God, we use our emotions and our words from our heart to honour him. If you are ever feeling down or if you feel that something is bothering you in your life; take a moment and start to praise God. When you do that, all your troubles will vanish, and your heart will feel light.

Humility:

HUMANITY

In this world, life is all about fame, pride and glamour. But God says “Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord, and he will lift you up”. When we humble ourselves in front of the Lord and acknowledge him for everything, he will lift you up. Whenever you get a victory in life or whenever you have achieved something, take a moment to thank God for giving you the victory. Very often when we achieve something, we tend to tell other people that it was only through our hard work we got the victory, and we forget about the God who has been with us all this while, helping and guiding us.

Understand the word of God and speak it out:

The word of God is the key to anything we want or need in life. God’s word is like light, and it guides us through our darkest days and our deepest fears. It is very important to read the word of God and understand what God is trying to tell you. Speaking out God’s word is also very important. We speak what is in our heart and mind. Thus, it is essential to fill our hearts and minds with the words of God so that we will be speaking the word of life.

Build a relationship with God:

Without having a relationship with God, we cannot do anything in life. We might be able to go to work, eat, play and do many things but at the end of the day, most of us would feel empty. We feel empty as we don’t have the fellowship with God. Building a strong relationship with God is very important. You can do this by starting your day with a prayer or talking to him whenever you feel like. We are the children of God, and through the blood of Jesus Christ, we can speak to our father whenever we want and wherever we want.
