Worship

Whatever your religious background and however you will come to be here, we welcome you to St Jude's Anglican Church. We hope that you will feel comfortable and fulfilled, and that you will be strengthened to meet the challenges of your daily life.

Sunday Services:

8:30 AM: The 8:30 Sunday service is Holy Eucharist (aka Communion, Mass etc...) following the order of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) and is a said service (that is, no music).

10:30 AM: The 10:30 Sunday service is Holy Eucharist (aka Communion, Mass etc...)following the order of the Book of Alternative Services (BAS) with musical offerings lead by the choir.

Wednesday Service:

11:00 AM: The midweek Communion service follows the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) with a time of prayer for healing for any who desire this. All are welcome for lunch in the church hall following the service.

Receiving Communion:

The Holy Eucharist is Christ's eternal banquet, to which we are all invited. If you are a baptized Christian of any tradition we welcome you to receive communion with our community of God's People. At the time of communion, please come to the altar rail; you may stand or kneel. The bread will be placed in your outstretched hands; the proper response is Amen. When the chalice of wine comes, you may either drink from it directly, carefully dip the bread in it (being careful not to touch the wine with your fingers), or decline it. If you have not been baptized, please come to the altar rail and cross your hands over your chest to receive a blessing.

Celebrating Children:

To parents of young children, may we suggest:

  1. Relax! God put the wiggle in children - don't feel you must suppress it here
  2. Sit toward the front - children will be more attentive when they can see what is going on
  3. Explain the parts of the services; help your child find the printed parts of the services and the hymns
  4. Sing, pray and respond; your child will learn by copying you
  5. If your child needs to leave, do so, but please come back
  6. If all else fails, our nursery is open (10:30 services) and our volunteers will love your children to bits

And to all members, please smile and encourage young children
and their parents - they are our future.
