Outreach

Praise and Pizza

Join us for a contemporary worship service on the first Saturday of each month. This service, which starts at 4:30 pm in the church, consists of modern songs, seasonal scripture readings and a reflection based on the day's readings. The Praise and Pizza Players, all volunteers, provide the musical and worship leadership. After the service in the church, all worshipers are invited to the lower parish hall where a meal of pizza and other food has been prepared by another group of volunteers. Cash donations are appreciated to help defray costs. Please join us. Check the church sign on Dalhousie Street for the exact dates. For more information on Praise and Pizza, contact Dave orBev Ritchie through the church office.

St Jude's Food Cupboard

The Food Cupboard of St Jude's provides non-perishable items to those in need of food. The Food Cupboard is open from Monday to Friday (09:00 AM – 12:00 noon). People in need are offered assistance once per month. For more information on our Food Cupboard ministry, contact Helene Steer through the church office.

Seniors Communion Luncheons

We invite you to participate in our Seniors Communion luncheons which occur on Wednesdays four times a year - twice in the fall and twice in the spring. This lunch follows Holy Eucharist which begins at 11:30 a.m. Dates will be announced in the bulletin, the Journey and on the Church Bulletin Board. We are glad to provide transportation. Please contact the church and speak to our secretary to make arrangements. For more information about our Senior Communion Luncheon Ministry, contact Pamela Humber through the Church office

Open Doors

The Open Doors Ministry allows us to open our church doors to the public every morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Visitors may come in to pray, sit quietly, browse around to enjoy the art work of our murals, chat with our volunteer, have a cup of coffee, or just come in from the cold (or heat) and bustle of every day life. For more information or to volunteer for Open Doors, contact Pamela Humber through the church office.

Park Lane Nursing Home Service

Every 3rd Sunday of the month Matthew and Christine Hartt conduct Morning Prayer at Park Lane Terrace in Paris, Ontario. Usually 15-18 of the residents attend and participate as able. By all accounts, they are most pleased to have this at their home. Both Matthew and Christine ask for your prayers for the work of this ministry to older adults. For more information on this ministry, please contact Matthew or Christine Hartt through the church office.

Nova Vita Christmas Angel Programme

Nova Vita is a shelter for abused and homeless women and children from the City of Brantford and the County of Brant. St Jude's Angel Tree, in support of this agency, is magical. Before Christmas each year, this tree appears at St Jude's. At Praise and Pizza, children make angels which are used to decorate the tree. Each angel indicates what a mother or child needs to help make Christmas special. For more information on the Christmas Tree programme, contact Nancy Harvey or Janice Luksic through the church office.

Primate's World Relief and Development Fund

The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) is the primary outreach agency of the Anglican Church of Canada. St Jude's actively supports the PWRDFthrough various initiatives.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child reaches out to children in need around the world. It is a way to share the gift from God, the birth of his son, Jesus Christ; with your small gifts you will be sharing this precious birth. It is never too early in the year to start your very special Christmas list - the one you will use to fill a shoe-box. Items such as toothbrushes and small toys are appreciated. Decide whether your shoe box will be for a boy or girl and choose an age category; ages 2 - 4, 5 - 9, 10 -14. The children from St Jude's Vacation Bible School and Sunday School are enthusiastic about this Outreach project showing a simple but powerful way to offer hope to children in far away countries. For more information on Operation Christmas Child, please contact Nancy Harvey or Janice Luksic through the office.

Caring Correspondence

As a caring community, St Jude's wishes to send cards to people who are sick or have a significant change in their life. In happy times or in sad times, St Jude's wishes their parish community to know we are thinking of them. Examples of these may include sickness, anniversaries, graduation, arrival of a new baby, or any other sad or happy time. For more information on our Caring Correspondence Ministry, contact Jackie Evans through the church office.
